What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis—deep relaxation and focus—to access the subconscious mind, making clients more open to change. Practitioners help clients reframe thoughts and beliefs, encouraging positive behaviours.

How Does Hypnotherapy Work?
During a session, the therapist helps the client enter a relaxed, trance-like state using calming language, breathing techniques, and visualisations/ getting a sense of a situation. While in hypnosis, the conscious mind quietens, allowing the subconscious to process new ideas and behaviours.
The Clients remains aware and in control throughout the process.
The Science Behind Hypnosis
Research shows that hypnosis alters brain activity: areas linked to focus, and imagination become more active, while those associated with critical thinking reduce activity.
This creates a mental environment where automatic behaviours and emotional responses can be reshaped.
Physiologically, hypnosis often promotes a relaxation response—lowering heart rate, reducing stress hormones, and calming the nervous system.
These effects explain why hypnotherapy is effective for anxiety, pain management, and stress-related conditions.
